The plot is stupid, the visual effects are terrible, and the film seems poised to be mocked from the get-go, however to the films credit, I did laugh a handful of times, and it wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be. 3.2/10

Well acted, a smart witty script, subversive, and really funny, this coming of age tragicomedy manages to twist expectations, while still having traces of convention, and the final result is one entertaining film that captures the awkwardness and uncertainty of growing up. 9.8/10
