The only thing the movie has going for it is that some of the ideas presented could work in a horror film, but it's squandered here, being occupied with stupid characters, clichรฉ-ridden, and isn't anywhere near clever enough to be scary.

The film occasionally gets a bit ridiculous, but Shyamalan's haunting atmosphere, and James McAvoy's magnetic performance(s), keep the film surprisingly grounded, resulting in a frightening, intelligent, and most shocking of all, even subtle horror film.
